Speaker: Martha Buchanan, MD After several years in private practice here in East Tennessee Dr. Buchanan joined Knox County Health Department in 2004 as the assistant public health officer and was promoted to public health officer in 2006. In April of 2010 she was appointed director of the health department. A Knox county native, she graduated from Carson Newman College and received her medical degree from East Tennessee State University James H. Quillen College of Medicine. She completed her residence in Family Practice at the University of North Dakota Family Practice Program, Minot North Dakota.Dr. Buchanan is board certified in family practice and is a member of the American Academy of Family Practice and the Tennessee Academy of Family Practice.
